Generator Hire

800kVA – 1500kVA Generator Hire Melbourne

The top of our hire fleet: containerised sets from 800kVA to 1500kVA for heavy industry, infrastructure and micro grids. Synchronised where a site needs more than one, and commissioned under real load by our own crew.

The band

Bulk power, engineered in

Four sizes at the top of the fleet. At this scale the generator is the smaller half of the job: the fuel system, the switching and the commissioning are the rest of it.

This band goes to plants and processing facilities, shopping centres, hospitals, network infrastructure and micro grids. The sets arrive containerised, are placed by crane, and are commissioned under real measured load rather than signed off against a nameplate.

It is almost always designed rather than delivered: synchronised sets for redundancy, temporary switchboards and change-over gear, and a fuel system sized to the length of the program, from field tanks up to 60,000L. Tell us what cannot go dark and for how long, and we will design the supply around it.

  • Containerised Delivered as a unit, placed by crane, weatherproof and secure on site.
  • Synchronised Two or more sets in series, so one can come offline without dropping the site.
  • Commissioned under load Load-bank tested to prove the capacity before anything relies on it.

Four sizes at the top of the fleet

Pick the size, or tell us the load and the run time. At this scale we will usually want to walk the site before anything is quoted.

Indicative figures at 0.8 power factor. The exact rating, outlets and dimensions are confirmed against the set we allocate.

From your call to power on

No triage queue and no handballing. The person who picks up is the person organising your set.

  1. You call, we answer

A real person on the phone any hour of any day, not an after-hours message bank. Tell us the site and what has gone down.

  2. We size it on the call

Our electricians and generator specialists work out what will carry the load now, and what the connection needs to look like.

  3. Dispatch and connect

The set goes out on our own float fleet, and our A-grade electricians make the connection and commission it on site.

  4. We stay accountable

Fuel management, monitoring and on-call technicians until your operation is back on, stable, and no longer needs us.

The rest of the fleet

Smaller than 800kVA?

Below this band the workhorse fleet runs 100kVA to 500kVA, and the small band covers events, retail and site sheds from 20kVA up.

800kVA – 1500kVA questions

Frequently asked

Which size in the 800kVA – 1500kVA range do I need?

At this scale the switchboard nameplate is usually a poor guide, so we work from measured demand: what the site actually draws, what the essential load is if you are prepared to shed the rest, and what steps on and in what order. The answer is often two smaller sets in parallel rather than one large one. Expect us to want to walk the site before quoting.

Can you run two or more of these together?

Yes. Synchronised operation is standard at this end of the fleet, and it is usually the reason a site chooses us. Running sets in series gives you redundancy if one faults, load sharing across the pair, and the ability to service one machine without the site going down.

How does a set this size get onto my site?

Containerised, on heavy transport, and placed by crane. We inspect the access, the hardstand, the exhaust clearances and the airflow before delivery day, because at this size a placement problem found on the day is a lost day. Our own crane trucks and floats do the work.

How is fuel handled?

With a designed fuel system rather than a jerry can and a schedule. Industrial fuel cells and field tanks, up to 60,000L systems, plus our own refuelling trucks on a scheduled program so a set running around the clock never comes close to dry.

Do you commission and test it?

Yes, under real measured load. We carry load banks for proof-of-capacity and commissioning tests, and our A-grade electricians handle the connection, the temporary switchboards and the change-over gear. Nothing is handed over on the strength of the rating plate.

Will you travel outside Melbourne with one?

Yes. We cover Melbourne and greater Victoria as a matter of course, and have run projects considerably further afield, including AusNet at Corryong and a Defence installation in the Northern Territory. Distance affects the timing and the logistics, not the service.
