You call, we answer

The small end of our hire fleet: canopied sets from 20kVA to 80kVA for events, retail, site compounds and household backup. Delivered, connected and refuelled by our own crew.
Four sizes cover almost every small job in Melbourne. Which one you need is decided by what has to start, not by what has to run.
The small band carries a shop or an office through an outage, a site shed and its compound, a marquee and its back-of-house, and a house on backup. Every set in it is canopied rather than open, which is what makes it usable in a retail strip, on an event site, or in a residential street where an open machine would not last the first evening.
It is also the band where the sizing conversation matters most, because the margin is thin. Motors, compressors and refrigeration draw far more on start-up than they do once they are turning, and on a small set that peak is what decides the machine. Tell us what has to start and we will name the size before anything is quoted, including when the honest answer is a bigger set.
Pick the size, or give us the load and we will pick it for you. Each page covers what that set runs, where it stops, and what goes out with it.
A shop, a site shed, a marquee, or a house on backup.
20kVA hire 40 kVAA commercial kitchen, a two-trade shed, event catering.
40kVA hire 60 kVAA full site compound, or retail with all its refrigeration.
60kVA hire 80 kVAA working site with plant on it, or a switchboard upgrade.
80kVA hireIndicative figures at 0.8 power factor. The exact rating, outlets and dimensions are confirmed against the set we allocate.
Retail strips, site compounds, event back-of-house and homes on backup. The work this band actually does, photographed on real Melbourne jobs.
No triage queue and no handballing. The person who picks up is the person organising your set.

Our electricians and generator specialists work out what will carry the load now, and what the connection needs to look like.
The set goes out on our own float fleet, and our A-grade electricians make the connection and commission it on site.
Fuel management, monitoring and on-call technicians until your operation is back on, stable, and no longer needs us.
Above this band the fleet steps up to 100kVA and beyond, where sets can be synchronised to run in series for redundancy and load bearing.

Large Industrial plants, shopping centres, food processing. Bulk power, built to run.

Work from the starting load rather than the running load. Add up what has to run continuously, then look at what starts: motors, compressors, refrigeration and hoists draw far more on start-up, and on a small set that surge is what sets the machine. As a rough guide, a shop or a site shed sits around 20kVA, a commercial kitchen or a busy compound around 40kVA to 60kVA, and a working site with plant on it at 80kVA. Our sizing calculator will give you an indicative figure in a couple of minutes, and our team will confirm it before anything is quoted.
Our standard small fleet is built around 20kVA, 35kVA and 60kVA machines, so a 40kVA or an 80kVA requirement goes out on the closest set that genuinely carries the load, which for anything with real motor starting is the size above. We name the machine when we quote, because what turns up on site matters more than the number on the enquiry.
Every set in this band is canopied rather than open, which is what makes it usable in retail strips, on event sites and in residential streets. If noise is the binding constraint on your job, say so early: our quietest builds sit at particular sizes and we will match you to the nearest one rather than send a machine that gets shut down by a complaint.
Whatever the connection needs. Cabling, a temporary distribution board, ramped cable covers, and a refuelling program on a longer hire, all held in our Kilsyth yard. Our A-grade electricians make the connection and commission the set on site, so you are not left finding a sparky once the machine is in the driveway.
Then we move you up, and it is a phone call rather than a new negotiation. The hire fleet runs to 1500kVA, and from 100kVA up the sets can be synchronised to run in series, which gives you redundancy and the ability to take one machine offline without dropping the site. Getting the size right is our job, so if the first assessment was light we will fix it.
From a single day through to a multi-year contract. Short hires regularly extend when a repair or an upgrade runs long, and that is not a problem: tell us the dates you know about and we will build the term around them.
