What it runs

The top of the mid-range

350kVA is where a hire stops being a machine on site and becomes a temporary power installation, with switchboards, cable runs and fuel to design around it.

Shopping centres, food processing plants, large distribution facilities and utility works all land in this band. The generator is the smallest part of the job: the placement, the temporary switchboard, the cable route and the fuel arrangement are what determine whether it works.

Our fleet steps 300kVA to 500kVA, so a 350kVA requirement goes out on whichever of those carries the duty properly. We will name the machine when we quote. Sets at this size can also be synchronised to run in series, which on a large site is often a better answer than one bigger machine.

  • A temporary installation Switchboards, cable routes and fuel designed around the set, not bolted on after.
  • Crane placement Our own crane trucks for rooftops, plant rooms and yards a tilt tray cannot reach.
  • Parallel-ready Synchronise sets for redundancy and to service one without dropping the site.

It never goes out alone

A set on its own is rarely the whole job. The gear that gets it connected and keeps it running is held in our Kilsyth yard.

What happens next

From your call to power on

No triage queue and no handballing. The person who picks up is the person organising your set.

  1. You call, we answer

A real person on the phone any hour of any day, not an after-hours message bank. Tell us the site and what has gone down.

  2. We size it on the call

Our electricians and generator specialists work out what will carry the load now, and what the connection needs to look like.

  3. Dispatch and connect

The set goes out on our own float fleet, and our A-grade electricians make the connection and commission it on site.

  4. We stay accountable

Fuel management, monitoring and on-call technicians until your operation is back on, stable, and no longer needs us.

350kVA questions

Frequently asked

What will a 350kVA generator run?

A shopping centre's essential services, a food processing plant with refrigeration and line equipment, a large distribution facility, or a utility works program with a long outage window. At this size the generator is usually carrying a whole site rather than a part of one.

Do you hold a 350kVA set specifically?

Our fleet steps from 300kVA to 500kVA, so a 350kVA requirement goes out on whichever of those carries the duty properly. We tell you which machine is coming when we quote, because at this size the physical size, the connection and the fuel arrangement all follow from it.

How does the set get placed?

Usually by crane truck. We run our own, so lift-and-place into rooftops, plant rooms and tight yards is part of the job rather than a subcontracted variable. We plan the placement around the cable route rather than around where a truck can conveniently stop.

What else comes with a hire this size?

Temporary switchboards and change-over gear for a compliant supply, cable ramps and covers, industrial fuel cells or field tanks, and load banks for commissioning under real load. It is a temporary installation rather than a delivery, and we supply the whole of it.

Can two sets be run together instead?

Often that is the better answer. Units at 100kVA and above can be synchronised to run in series, giving redundancy, load bearing and the ability to take one machine offline for service without dropping the site. On a large site we would usually put both options in front of you.

What does a 350kVA hire cost?

The machine is rarely the biggest line. Term, placement, switchboards, cable runs, fuel and commissioning all form part of it, so we quote the installation. Tell us the site and the program and you will get a real number rather than a rate card.
